Everyone needs a moment within their life to relax and enjoy a moment of stillness. This can be difficult in our busy day to day responsibilities but it is crucial in order to keep our mind and body in alignment. There are so many different ways we can choose to relax. Some people like music and others prefer taking a nap or a walk. The list can go on and on when looking for ways to calm the wandering mind.
One great tip to help relax your wandering mind is to stop long enough for a short breathing exercise. The steps are simple and can be done just about anywhere.
To start, just follow these simple steps:
- Sit or lie down
- Slowly count to five while you breathe in through your nose. Hold your breath for a moment.
- Count to five again while breathing out slowly through your mouth.
- Repeat 3 times and feel a shift in you.
For the next 30 minutes choose to do something that is calming and gives you some balance and move forward.
Deep breathing is a simple way to change the chemical balance in your brain to help calm you down. We all need a bit of calm in our lives. Take charge and create yours as you also create an excellent day. ~Bonnie
