Do you look forward to time off with your family and friends on vacation? I know I do. I have learned life is short and that you must enjoy each day and live life to the fullest. In early July I visited my home away from home, Aruba, and stayed at the Casa Del Mar Resort. Aruba is only about 21 miles, located in the southern part of the Caribbean Sea. It’s absolutely beautiful and the perfect place to relax andunwind and spend time with family and friends.
Are you the type of person who is on the run all the time? Maybe you might be a little stressed or worried and have many things on your mind. When you’re away do you relax quickly or does it take you a few days? My experience has varied. Sometimes I can immediately be in the moment and relax. Then other times it can take many days for me to find my flow. This was the case on my most recent trip. As it turned out, relaxing was a little bit of a challenge for me compared to my most recent trips. I had wandering mind syndrome and was real tired. I found it more difficult to relax and unplug right away. It didn’t help two days into my trip during the night as I woke up I saw on TV; the S&P 500 unexpectedly fell sharply at a rate of over 5% in 2 days. I was grateful more than ever to have a plan in place with a great team taking care of what was needed with my corporate job so I could take full advantage of my time away.
Sometimes you need a bit of a reminder that it’s ok to unwind and truly “BE” on vacation. Aruba is a place over the years where I experiment a bit and try new things that I have never done before. Though it took me longer to get into the idea of relaxing while on my vacation, this time was no different in my desire to challenge myself. What I found this trip was that a new class, Chair Yoga, was being offered by the resort and all I had to do was show up! What a great experience it was. I participated in 6 classes by the end of the two weeks (going 3 days a week), I felt better than I had when we arrived and found a new inner clarity that gave me a renewed sense of peace and tranquility. My classes took place around beautiful trees, near the pool where you could feel the wonderful sea breeze. I highly recommend to chair yoga to you, especially if you struggle with stress, anxiety, or find it difficult to relax. You will find that this low impact exercise will strengthen your body and calm your spirit.
What is chair yoga? Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that benefits the body and mind and is done sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Chair yoga is also a great way to meet people in a relaxing environment.
Some Benefits of Chair Yoga:
- A great way to relax from head to toe giving you a sense of peace as your mind relaxes.
- A quick way to stretch your body and relieve tension. It’s much healthier for you instead of reaching for food to comfort you.
- Will increase your range of motion by opening your hips, moving your shoulders and neck. It feels so good.
- It benefits the body, because it increases blood circulation and stimulates the elimination of body toxins.
- improves feet, toes, hand and finger movements, muscle and bone health.
- Improves balance, posture, flexibility and mobility.
While in Aruba I had a great experience with Chair Yoga and highly recommend to all! Check out Gladys Buti Yoga Aruba and learn how to become more relaxed and find peace as you stretch and move your body 🙂
This amazing snapshot is just part of what I experience when
on a lounge chair while on vacation with my family on the island of Aruba.
Embracing the idea that you can feel refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated while away being committed to your health and wellness. Make sure to incorporate some peace and quiet time instead of running around aimlessly or reaching for food to soothe your soul. Make it a point each day to be still, relax, and clear your mind. Let today be the day you decide to do something new for your health and well-being. See if you could find a chair yoga course to take that is near you. Not only will you widen your circle of friends, you will also relax and find peace as you stretch and move your body. If you have never taken classes while you are away, you will be truly amazed how enjoyable it is to try chair yoga while on vacation. It’s one of the best classes I’ve taken, and I bet you will feel good all over too once you take the plunge.
Remember too that if you should ever find yourself in Aruba stop by the Casa Del Mar resort and experience Chair Yoga with Gladys yourself. She is incredible! Find out more about her and chair yoga by visiting and connecting with her Facebook profile. Listen, if I can take full advantage of the benefits of chair yoga and relax… YOU can too!
Wishing you health, wealth and happiness,
