How to Create a Relaxing and Peaceful Vacation
All work and no play make for a lack of inner peace. Give yourself permission to step away. When you take time for vacation, it lowers stress, refreshes your mind and body, and helps your overall well-being.
Taking a vacation or time off from work allows new insights, thoughts, and ideas to emerge. You release stress as your mind becomes clearer. Time away also ignites your creativity, helps your mind focus more effortlessly, and makes you more productive upon your return.
The benefits add to your everyday happiness and your overall well-being. Even a few days off make a significant difference in your perspective. Once you make the time, you will be surprised to discover that time off is worth it. You don’t need to stress about what you need to get done before leaving – take one step at a time. Developing a plan before going away has helped me be at peace during vacation; leaving behind pre-vacation anxiety and stress are key elements in this process. As a result, I have learned how to relax while enjoying my time away and return feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. If I can make it work, YOU can too!
If you find yourself stressed out and unable to break free from those feelings, then now is the time to embrace taking time for yourself. It can help you feel refreshed, relaxed, and rejuvenated, all while on vacation, with the bonus of feeling good upon returning home. You can do so with the confidence that everything is in order due to the steps you took prior to going on vacation.
While working in corporate life, I learned the importance of planning early so you are confident everything will go smoothly while you are away. For example, if you work a corporate job, take the time to create a relationship with your team or an associate you can trust who will effectively manage your everyday tasks while away. If you own your own business, communicate with your clients before you leave to ensure they have what they need. Lastly, utilize the following tips to streamline the process – making sure any last-minute adjustments are made as efficiently as possible.
How to Create a Relaxing and Peaceful Vacation:
Prepare in Advance
When it comes to your job, list essential procedures, and create a manual with everyday routines as a point of reference, including phone numbers, passwords, and instructions. Devise a plan and review it with your team or a trusted associate before you go away about the desired outcomes for specific conditions. In this way, you can be sure that you have done all you can to ensure that the same actions would occur as if you were in the office. Contact your clients to review critical matters before your vacation. Your clients will appreciate you staying connected with them.
Create a Way to Communicate with Your Office
When you are on vacation, the goal is to limit the amount of work you do. For example, you can bring a laptop, an iPad, or a cell phone to communicate when something important comes up. Nobody expects you to be on call 24/7 and not enjoy your break, but it is helpful to be aware to avoid any unexpected issues. When I travel, I monitor the stock market periodically throughout the day by listening to people talk around the pool or a quick look at CNBC. When working In corporate, I used email to communicate with my team. Decide what constitutes an emergency and under what circumstances you want to be contacted while on vacation. Be clear about your expectations. Meet with the person backing you up and see what concerns they have before you leave so you’ve covered all your bases.
Create a Backup Plan
Start early to ensure you get everything done on time. Stay true to your word and be reliable with your commitments. Send your files to your email address or open a Dropbox account for easy access. If you are tech-savvy, consider backing up your files to a small flash drive – it’s an inexpensive, easy-to-use, and efficient way to store your documents offline. With a flash drive, you can back up your files from your home or office computer for easy reference, even if you don’t have an internet connection.
Take Care of Your Health
Give yourself permission to step away from your daily habits and routines. Rejuvenate, rest your body and mind, and experience something new. Clear your mind, refresh, relax, and have fun while on vacation. You’re worth more to your clients, employees, and yourself when you take the time to do this.
Create Check Lists
For each family member, create a packing list. I used to do mine on paper, but now I do it on the computer, so I don’t need to rewrite it every time I go away. Make sure to include clothes, health and medical items, toiletries, documents, money, electronics, and miscellaneous items. Get started early and avoid waiting until the last minute. Do your best not to overpack – something I struggled with but has improved over the years.
My husband, Neil, and I recently had the pleasure of embarking on the Celebrity Beyond (built in 2022), a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean. The cruise was truly something to behold, with its luxurious spa, casino, a myriad of restaurants, clubs, bars, and pool, as well as comfortable lounge chairs and extraordinary entertainment and shows in a theatre like no other. Thankfully, the stock market waited for me, lol – a quiet week that was made easier to follow with a seamless Wi-Fi connection. It was incredibly relaxing and refreshing to get away. Stop waiting for the “perfect time”, invest in your well-being, and book your getaway now! If you need help, feel free to email me and I’ll be sure to put you in contact with Neil, who is also a travel agent. He’ll be more than happy to guide you through the process.
It was incredibly relaxing and refreshing to get away, and highly recommend taking some time for yourself to enjoy some peace and clear your mind. When you plan ahead, create clear communication, have a backup plan, and trust in your team, you will feel a sense of calm and reap the benefits of creating the relaxing, serene vacation you deserve. Your overall health and well-being should be your top priority, so invest in yourself and book that vacation – you won’t regret it!
