15 Simple Tips for Growing Your Wealth
- Establish practical money rituals that are easy for you to follow that have a positive impact on your finances. These rituals suit your needs, not somebody else’s.
- Don’t hide or avoid talking about money. If you are feeling a bit unsure, get a coach who could be of assistance to you or find an investment adviser, or a financial planner to help guide you on your path to wealth.
- Track your spending for a few months. Create a spending plan that is within your means. By cutting back as little as $25.00 per week you will have an extra $1,300 per year that you can use to pay off debt or put toward your savings or your investment account for your future.
- Review each year the bills that you pay regularly such as TV, telephone, or insurance. Call your provider and ask there is cheaper package that costs less, but you still get what you want.
- Have an emergency fund of at least six months of what your present expenses are, with a little extra to plan ahead for unexpected expenses that might arise.
- Drink water when you’re eating out, instead of paying for an expensive beverage, an added bonus, you will save money and water is a lot healthier for you.
- Split a meal with your partner when you go out. Most restaurants give you much more food than what you can eat and it will be better for your waistline.
- Avoid using high credit-card debt by reviewing your interest rate on your credit cards. Call the company and speak to a supervisor to see if they will lower your interest rate that you are paying.
- Stop making impulse purchases. Don’t buy items on sale for a discount and wind up paying more for the item because you don’t pay off your bill in full at the end of the month and end up paying a high rate of interest.
- Stock up on discounted gift cards for places you normally shop when you have some excess cash.
- Avoid using the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) and paying fees that your bank will charge when using another bank for cash. You will be surprised how much money you save at $2 – $4 each time you take out money.
- Take advantage if your employer allows you to contribute into a retirement savings plan. Start with a few percent of your income and then increase the contribution when you can.
- If you are not working and need to take out money to live on, see if you can limit yourself to withdrawing 4 percent or less in order to preserve your capital for later years in life.
- Diversify your investments that include a broad mix of stocks and bonds. Review your asset allocation regularly. As you grow older it’s a good idea to move your assets into less-risky investments. A quick rule of thumb is to have an allocation to bonds that is equal to your age.
- Avoid taking large losses on your investments. Managing your risk is the number one principle that allows you to successfully achieve wealth investing.
Start using just a few of these tips now, and discover how your perception with money changes as your confidence and wealth increase. Experiment, be open-minded, and continue to learn along the way. Decide you want to feel good about money. You can do anything that you set your mind to.
