7 Ways to Start Achieving Your Goals

7 Ways to Start Achieving Your Goals

Is fear holding you back from doing and achieving your goals? Are you taking action or only thinking about what to do? Fear can slow you down and limit you. Without taking an action step, you stay exactly where you are. It’s normal to experience some resistance and feel apprehensive and fearful at the start, but don’t let that deter you. The goals you want to achieve and the answers you seek may be closer than you think. Taking action one step at a time toward your goal will make you less resistant and help you start facing what you fear.

Start by trusting yourself and worrying less about what others think of your goals. Time, patience, and perseverance are keys to setting you on your path to achieving your goals. There is no need to succumb to unnecessary self-pressure. Give yourself space to learn and grow. Engage in different interests, doing what makes you feel good. Embrace new experiences, not focusing only on what you have been doing before and what is within your comfort zone.

Have you considered what it costs you to do the same thing repeatedly? Grab a pen to reflect and examine how you resist change. These are areas worth taking a closer look at, and if you are open to change and ready to create new daily habits and be consistent, you will find your days more fulfilling and gratifying.

Ask yourself, what could you do differently today? What new actions can you take to increase your enjoyment and move you closer to completing your goals? Even the smallest steps are enough to overcome obstacles and fears. It’s time to allow yourself permission to do the things YOU have wanted to do.

“Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.” ~ W. Clement Stone

Once you recognize your fear, you can work through its hold on you. If you do nothing and let time pass, you may create more fear than you initially had. I have made this mistake, and I sometimes fall into the trap. Holding off due to a lack of knowledge and the fear of repeating past mistakes is common. By changing your perspective to think of them as lessons, they will springboard you to break through your fear and achieve your future success.

Experiences you’ve had give you benefits. Here’s one example: Maybe you want to write a book, but you’re worried about what others think or the feedback you might get. Start by writing a few paragraphs, then an article, and share it with people you know. Ask for feedback. Hearing both the good and the not-so-good will help you improve.

With each action, watch how your confidence begins to grow. You can still go forward despite hearing words that may have held you back in the past. Small steps can reap huge rewards. Keep going on what you want to accomplish. Here are some ways to support you.

7 Ways to Start Achieving Your Goals

  1. Be aware of your self-talk. Watch your words. Say kind things to yourself as you would your best friend because doing so empowers your inner spirit.
  2. Be aware of what triggers your mood swings. Accept how you feel and shift to a place of personal power. Start with one positive thought to raise your energy vibration.
  3. Be thankful for what you have. Appreciating even the smallest things puts you in a positive mindset and creates a path to more peace and abundance.
  4. Forgive and let go of the past. Free your mind and spirit of baggage that weighs you down. It’s so rewarding when you do.
  5. Say something kind to your friends and family. You will make their day. Sharing kindness is good for the soul.
  6. Create a daily healthy routine or ritual that inspires you. I added yoga as a daily routine and a Zoom group class. I finish each class more relaxed and re-energized. Here is a link to my favorite Kundalini chant for yoga and meditation on YouTube called Longtime Sunshine.
  7. Be patient. Be open to change. Patience equals progress.

Taking action will make you more comfortable, and your fear will dissipate. It may not leave altogether, but you will be in a better position to move closer to reaching your goals despite any fear you may feel inside.

Decide now to commit to freeing yourself from fears you are holding on to, and you will be on your way to achieving your goals. You don’t have to be perfect, but it’s necessary to start. When you do, the possibilities for you to achieve your goals are endless. Consistent daily habits will build a solid foundation for making your days more fulfilling, gratifying, and fun.
